Abstract
157,311. Rapp, J. W., (Assignee of Vanorio, J.). Feb. 27, 1919, [Convention date]. Framework.-A sheet-metal spar or rib for aeroplanes, comprising flange members 1, 2 corrugated at 5, 5a and connected together by channel web members 7, cut away as shown to form triangulated members 10, has the members 10 embossed outwards along their centre lines, their edges being turned inwards to form a cross-section of V-form. The flange members 1, 2 may be made up in tubular form as shown in Fig. 5, or by attaching flat plates to the corrugated members 1, 2 shown in Fig. 1. The flanged portions 8, 9 of the web members are connected to the edges of the members 1, 2 at 14 by spot-welding or riveting.
