Abstract

211,573. Simpson, S. Nov. 22, 1922. Vehicle-window opening and closing apparatus.-Relates to sprocket-and-chain opening and closing apparatus for a vehicle window. Only one sprocket and a guided chain are used. The sprocket has an integrally formed pinion c<2> driven by a pinion on the spindle g. The window is held by a spring-pressed plunger l housed in a boss of the spindle which engages a fixed recessed sleeve j. The plunger is released on the first movement of the handle by a flanged sleeve i<2> having a cam-shaped slot engaging the front of the plunger. The spindle g is driven by the sleeve i<2> engaging the projecting end of the plunger. The slotted bracket on the window engaged by the chain stud is shaped as shown in Fig. 6 to permit separation from the stud when the window is closed. A counterbalancing-spring is housed in the sprocket. The tubular guides o are connected to a plate having a fixing slot o<1>.
