213,819. Franks, T. H., and Brookes, W. July 7, 1923. Window opening and closing apparatus.-Windows, fan-lights, &c., are operated by means of a cord f passing over a guide pulley c and attached to the pivoted window stay g. The stay is held by a pawl d controlled by a spring or by a weighted lever e on the squared spindle d'. The pawl is released by pulling the cord f. The inturned end g<4> acts as an end stop for the stay against the guide-piece b<1>. The cam-shaped end d<2> of the pawl may be pressed against the stay by pulling the cord, thereby braking the motion along the stay.
