Window opening and closing apparatus. - The sash 4 is operated by a lever 13 pivoted thereto centrally and guided by two fixed pins engaging a longitudinal slot 14 and an elliptical slot 10 in a bracket 11 riveted to the lever. The lever is actuated by a pinion 9 and handle 8, the pinion being engaged with a shaped rack secured to the slotted bracket 11. The shaft of the pinion and handle has a reduced end maintained in engagement with the guide slot 10 by a headed screw in the end of the shaft.
