Davits.-In davits in which a screw K mounted in the frame G which also is provided with a guide for a nut H mounted on the davit arm A, the luffing of the davit being effected by power, manual or mechanical applied to the spindle of the screw, the davit is guided during its luffing movement by a pin P mounted on the lower extremity of the davit arm entering a slot E in the frame disposed at right angles to screw. To relieve the davit arm from torsional stresses, a boss M formed thereon runs along a guide N on the frame G, and in addition, the lower end of the davit arm is formed with extending boss pieces 0 which bear against the davit frame. The screw casing is provided with a cover and doors permit access to the slots.
