Abstract

296,535. Mead, W. A. Aug. 8, 1927. Gvards for preventing access of vermin.-A rat guard for a hawser is formed by two metal plates 1, 2, connected by pivot and guide members 4 and shaped so as to form a circle when in operative position. Recessed parts 1<a>, 2<a>, are formed in the plates to take the hawser and slots 1<b>, 2<b>, to accommodate the guide member 4. The pivot and guide members are each formed by a rivet passing through a sleeve 5 on which spacing washers 7 are provided between and outside of the plates 1, 2. A bridle, 3 secured to the plates enables the guard to be lowered on to a hawser, the plates closing on each other when the tension of the bridle is relaxed. The pivot member is preferably made of material such as copper, bronze, or the like and the guide member of aluminium.
