Abstract

211,422. Holdsworth, G. Sept. 25, 1923. Locking sliding latches; lock mechanism, lever - type; reversible locks and latches. - In a lock of the type in which the latch bolt 1 is locked by a key-operated lever-controlled bolt 3 engaging in a recess 1<1> in the latch, the levers 6 are provided with apertured extensions 6<1> within which is mounted, a boss 12 hand-operated from the inside of the door and provided with fingers 11, 11<1>, the finger 11 coacting with cam surfaces 10 on the extension 6<1> to raise the levers 6, and the finger 11<1> working in a notch 9 in the side of the bolt opposite to that on which the key operates so as to shoot the bolt 3 after the extensions 6<1> have been lifted sufficiently by the finger 11. The levers 6 may be returned to their locking position either by the spring 14 or by gravity. The latch 1 may be rendered reversible by providing a duplicate notch 1<11>.
