Abstract

210,145. British Thomson-Houston Co., Ltd., and Haigh, F. A. Oct. 24, 1922. Dynamos and motors combined for transmitting power.-In a ship propulsion system comprising a number of separately driven series-connected direct-current generators and one or more motors, the excitation of each generator is controlled in accordance with its speed. Generators G, Fig. 1, and separately excited exciters A are driven by engines E, and the motor M is provided with a separately excited field-winding F for each generator G and if necessary with a separately excited field-winding. In the modification shown in Fig. 2 each generator G is provided with a shunt field-winding B and a separately excited field winding C.
