Lids.-Tins are opened by means of a folded sheet-metal strip riding jockey-fashion on the edge of the bottom of the tin and engaging by means of a cranked portion 13 with the edge of the lid, the slope of the part 2 being such that the point 10 which serves as a stationary fulcrum lies vertically above the point 11, which is the point at which the resistance of the lid operates, so that at the beginning of the opening movement the resistance is a minimum.
