Abstract

211,087. Smith, F. I. Dec. 18, 1923. Lids and covers.- A kettle lid has a downwardly - flanged filling opening B, Fig. 3, disposed to one side of the centre, the opening having a hinged cover C and a counter-weighted valve D normally closing it at the underside. A spring strip G, Fig. 4, secured across the lid, serves to hold it in place in the kettle, from which it can, however, be removed by a prizing tool. Radial corrugations may be formed in the lid to strengthen it.
