Abstract

252,845. Jackson Manufacturing Co. (Bermondsey}, Ltd., and Danek, J. April 16, 1925. Lids.-The joint between the lid 2 and the sides of a box is formed by a groove 1 containing a strip of rubber or like sealing material 3 into which the sides of the box are pressed. The groove 1 is formed by a downwardly depending skirt which is stepped outwardly. In the Figure the skirt forms part of a double dished cover, and in a modification the inner cover is dispensed with and a doubling strip is riveted around the lower part to form the opposite side of -the groove. The outer edge of the groove extends below the inner edge, and the box is provided with a ridge 5 against which the outer edge abuts. The inner edge may be bent over to retain the rubber &c. in situ. Specifications 8807/86, 22772/10, [Class 66, Hollow-ware], and 228,297 are referred to.
