Abstract
207,648. Scott, A. Sept. 16, 1922. Combined fluid-actuated and mechanical gears; releasing-gears.-Driving-gear for an hydraulic or other motor comprises a frame fixed to the piston rod and formed with racks 4, Fig. 2, meshing with pinions 5 on a shaft 6 mounted in slotted bearings 10, so that the shaft is moved to bring a pinion 7 alternately into gear with pinions 8, 9 on shafts 11, 12. At each end of the motor cylinder are inlet and exhaust valves 22, 23, Fig. 4, carried by a, rocker 24 operated through a lever 26 from a slotted member 28 on the rack to open the exhaust valve and permit the inlet valve to be closed by the fluid pressure, the lever being locked in the position shown by a latch 31. At the end of the return stroke, a pin 33 disengages the latch 31. and a spring returns the valves.
