Abstract

B u t t joints.- Relates to a fluidtight joint for use in assembling the elements of sectional boilers, whereby the necessity for machining the joint flanges is avoided. The face of each joint flange is cast with two concentric circular ribs 1 forming between them a circular groove 2 of variable cross section for the reception of an elastic packing ring 3, said packing being compressed to obtain a fluid-tight joint by bolts 5 or by bolts extending the whole length of the boiler.
