Addition to 239,282. stuffing-box joints.-In pipe joints of the kind described in the parent Specification, the ends of the pipes a, a are provided with enlargements adapted to be engaged by the annular ribs d, d of the locating ring c. In one form, Fig. 1, the enlargement n on said pipes are made large enough for the formation therein of grooves b adapted to receive the internal ribs d of the locating ring, whereas in a modification, Fig. 3, the enlargements n<3> are produced by flanging the ends of the pipe which flanges are then positioned within the internal recess of said ring c. Further slight modifications, wherein the enlargements are formed by rolling, welding &c., are described.
