Abstract
206,754. British Thomson - Houston Co., Ltd., (General Electric Co.). Jan. 18, 1923. Oil-switches have their primary contacts 35, 36 arranged within a chamber 25 and their secondary contacts 50, at which the circuit is finally broken, arranged outside the chamber. The contacts 50 are mounted on levers 40 pivoted at 41 and actuated through toggle links 43 by the rod 20 carrying the primary contact bridging member 3G ; and springs 51 arranged as shown provide the necessary lost motion. The conductors leading to the contacts 50 are inclined so that their magnetic field blows the arc downwards, and the chamber 25 is so arranged that the arc vapours are deflected along its outer surface. Annular expansion chambers 13, 32 are arranged round tha switch tank and the chamber 25 to absorb the pressure of the discharge. Specification 162,820 is referred to.
