206,126. Pridham, E. S. Oct. 25, 1922, [Convention date]. Magnetic instruments.-In a telephone receiver employing a vibrating armature 13 connected to a diaphragm 11 by a rod 12, the pole-pieces at opposite sides of one end of the armature are of opposite polarity, the U-shaped pole-pieces 17, 18 being crossed as shown for that purpose. The result is that the armature 13, the ends of which at any instant have opposite polarity due to telephone currents in coils 14, has a rectilineal movement. Each end of the armature is mounted between two spring metal strips, which prevent it sticking to the pole-pieces.
