Pendulum-weight apparatus.-In an automatic weighing scale having an indicating pointer or equivalent operated in the indicating direction by a motor independent of the weight to be weighed, an adjustable cam is provided for limiting the action of the motor, the position of the cam being controlled by the weight being weighed. The load on the platform actuates a draw-rod 1, levers, 2, 6, and a vertically movable bar 11. The bar is supported at the top and the bottom by flexible bands 19, 20 passing over roller members 12, 13 which are supported by flexible bands 23, 24 and carry pendulum levers 21a, 22a. The roller members have rolling contacts each at two points, with stationary members 21, 22. Attached to the bar 11 is a bracket 11<a> carrying a number of studs 33<c> which may be adjusted so as to vary the shape of a flexible strip 32 against which bears a roller 25<c> carried by an indicating quadrant 25, the usual indicating pointer being actuated by the quadrant. A motor in the form of an adjustable weight 30 tends to maintain contact between the roller 25<c> and the flexible strip 32, and thus actuates the indicating pointer in the forward direction. A dash-pot 35 retards the upward movement of the bar 11, and a dash-pot 31 with a slower action retards the pointer mechanism so that equilibrium is established before the roller 25<c> makes contact with the flexible strap 32.
