366,722. Weighing-apparatus. TOLEDO SCALE MANUFACTURING CO., Monroe Street, Toledo, Ohio, U.S.A. Feb. 5, 1931, No. 3718. Convention date, June 30, 1930. [Class 143.] Pendulum-weight apparatus; compound-lever apparatus.-Relates. to a weighing scale in which a load-counterbalancing pendulum is operatively engaged by a lever mechanism having attached to one of its component members a pendulous mass which is adapted to act in opposition to the load-counterbalancing pendulum when the scale is moved to an unlevel position, and the invention is characterized by the pendulous mass being adjustable both vertically and horizontally with respect to the component member of the lever mechanism to which it is attached. The main scale lever 6 is connected by a link 21 to an auxiliary lever 23 supported on fulcrum pivots 24 and coupled by a flexible ribbon 31 to the pendulum 34. A pendulous mass 48 is attached to the lever 23 by means of elbow pieces 49 and an angular member 46 so as to permit of adjustment of the mass in both a vertical and an horizontal direction. The mass 48 has a smaller movement than the pendulum weight 33 but is larger so that if the scale is out of level, its effect on the indicator 36 neutralizes the opposite effect of the pendulum.
