501,793. Weighing-apparatus. BERKEL AUTO SCALE CO., Ltd. (Maatschappij van Berkel's Patent N.V.) July 27, 1938, No. 22302. [Class 143] A weighing-apparatus incorporates a tare beam (or capacity-increasing beam) which (for the purpose of avoiding "out-of-level" error) is freely suspended from or carried by the weigh-beam or lever of the apparatus towards one of its ends, and towards the other end is operatively connected to means adapted to swing laterally about a lixed axis lying below the beam. As shown, the weigh-beam 4 is connected to a load rod P and a pendulous resistant W, and supports by a link 7 one end of the tare beam 1a, 1b. The other end of the tare beam is supported by the upper end 8 of a pendulum 5. If the apparatus is out of level the pendulum 5 displaces the tare beam to compensate for the tilt.
