Pendulum-weight apparatus.-In a personal weighing machine, a weighing platform overlies a base housing associated with an upright housing provided with an indicator window which is located at approximately three feet above the level of the platform and is of small dimensions such that it exposes only a portion of a revoluble chart mounted within the upright housing and co-operating with a stationary index to indicate the weight on the platform, the weight indications being only visible to the person standing on the platform. The platform 27 rests upon knifeedges carried by a platform lever and is secured to an upwardly-extending arm 60 steadied by a check link 61. The platform lever is coupled by a link 31, lever 32 flexible ribbon 34, and power sector 35 to a pendulum 36 supported by fulcrum sectors 37 which are suspended by flexible ribbons for rolling movement upon guiding faces 39. A rack bar 46 pivotally connected to the axis of the fulcrum sectors actuates a revoluble indicating chart 52 situated about three feet above the platform and viewed through a window 54. A lamp 55 illuminates the chart each time the pendulum moves from its zero position. The initial balance of the parts is obtained by means of a loading box on the platform lever and by adjusting the pendulum weight 41 on its supporting arm. An adjustable balance weight 42 is also provided on the lever 32. Vibration, neutralizing. - A dash-pot 64 mounted on a shelf 65 is connected to the lever 32 to damp vibration.
