Abstract

203,774. Barrett, A. Dec. 4, 1922. Lantern shutters.-In a vehicle lamp provided with an anti-dazzle device of the iris diaphragm type, the arcuate members 1 are provided on their ends with spherical projections 2 which engage radial recesses 3 in annular rings 4, the members 1 being provided with shoulders to limit their movement. Between the two groups of projections 2 is a plate 15 having annular races or grooves 16 one for each group. Each ring 4 is provided with a separate housing, the housings 5, 6 being rotatably connected together by pin and slot connections 7. The front glass 17 is provided with a central aperture in which is secured a ring or carrier 18 for a disc 19 of coloured glass. The head-lights on a vehicle may be provided with coloured discs of different colours, and two or three of the members 1 may be similarly coloured.
