Abstract

Iris diaphragms. - An anti-dazzle device for vehicle lamps comprises an iris diaphragm, the leaves 8, 9 of which are pivoted alternately to one or other of two annular members 1 secured to the lamp front and are operated by means of a movable annular member arranged between and coaxially with the other annular members. In one form, the leaves 8, 9 have pins 6, 7 engaging curved slots 4, 5 in the f.xed member to which they are pivoted and in radial slots 10 in the movable annular member, which is mounted by means of curved slots 15 engaging rollers 14, or pins, or bridge-pieces connecting the fixed members 1. One set of leaves has portions 19 bent towards the light and the other set has portions 19 bent away from the light, and the leaves may be so constructed that in their closed position they leave a sector-shaped opening below the axis of the lamp but with its apex at the axis, the apex angle being for example 50‹.
