Abstract

174,500. Rutherford, A. P., and Haddow, A. N. Nov. 27, 1920. Holders. - A combined lamp-holder and switch comprises a casing made in two parts A, E permanently connected together but capable of relative rotation, an interior contact carrier made in two parts C<1>, K, grooves M, N at right-angles in the upper face of the lower part K, and contacts P arranged in the groove M so that a positive make-and-break connection is effected with fixed contacts R- in the part C<1> of the carrier by continued rotation in either direction of one of the parts A, E. A knurled ring F on the part E of the casing facilitates rotation of the switch. The two parts of the contact carrier are prevented from rotating in the corresponding parts A, E of the casing by projections B, G in the casing. A spring D presses down the contact carrier in known manner. According to the Provrsional Specification, the casing may comprise one part only, and the contact carrier three parts, the middle one of which is slidable radially to bring the contacts into and out of register.
