Abstract
189,279. Riggs, F. S. Sept. 21, 1921. Switches with compound movement; bases.-A switch for signalling devices using four lamps comprises a base 10 having four contacts 24 .. 27, with which are associated wire contacts 32, 35, 34, 33. The first-named are connected either in opposite pairs or all at a time by a contact disc 19 pivoted to a screw 17 and having segments 20 .. 23. A hemispherical shell 11 has a cruciform opening 12 at the top through which passes a spindle 39. Inner and outer shells 42, 41 of similar contour are pressed against the shell 11 by a spring 43. To energize one lamp only, the spindle 39 is shifted into one arm of the cruciform and a spider 48 carried by shell 42 contacts with the corresponding wire-contact. Fig. 7 shows a diagram of connections from which it is seen that the screw 17 is connected to the shell 11 to light one lamp. A fifth lamp 47 may be used in combination and is energized independently.
