Abstract
203,326. Durand, E. H. M. E. Aug. 31, 1922, [Convention date]. Circular machines.-Relates to the provision of means whereby loops may be transferred directly from one needle b to an adjacent needle for fashioning or for other purposes. Latch needles having offset hook portions and recesses g<1> behind and below the latch pivots are operated' by means of a pattarn chain so that the hooks of certain needles such as a pass into the recesses g<1> of other needles b and receive their loops. The empty needles and the corresponding sinkers d are taken out of action. The adjacent sinkers have their thread drawing edges e at a lower level so as to cause the corresponding needles to draw the same amount of thread as the needles which went out of action. Narrowing is started at points on the tube diametrically opposed, by a pattern chain pressing a slide 10, Fig. 10, carrying a cam track, into the path of a projection 10<b> on a rocker 12. This rocker is pivoted to a bracket 15 on a rack ring 16. A pinion 17, gearing with the ring 16 and with another ring 18 carrying a bracket similar to 15, carries a starwheel 20 engaged by a projection 23 on the slide 10 which thus causes the brackets to approach under control of the pattern-chain. The first movement imparted to the rocker 12 lifts a rod 14 into engagement with a sinker jack h, the butt of the corresponding sinker d being thus transfered from the track x to the track x<1>. A second movement of the rocker 12, under control of the slide 10, depresses the butt of a needle jack f into the transfer track Y'. Each sinker d passes through a sley c, Figs. 4 and 6 the forked groove of which embraces the stems of a pair of needles a, b and when a sinker is drawn back for transfer purposes, its sley c brings the corresponding pair of needles into the same radial line. The needle a then removes the loop from the needle b. The butts of the empty needles and of the corrsponding sinkers d are retained to the tracks X<1> Y<1>. Specification 203,325 is referred to.
