Abstract
232,231. Soc. GÚnÚrale de Bonneterie. April 11, 1924, [Convention date]. Straight-bar machines. - To facilitate the fashioning of rib fabrics, particularly the kind known as Derby rib, by transferring loops from machine needles 3 to frame needles 9, a set of hooked instruments 8 mounted in a bar 7 is employed. Each hook has an eye or groove a, b, c extending from near the point along the stem. When it is desired to transfer loops the web is pushed back by the needles 9, and the hooks 8, moving in the direction of the arrow, enter the loops on the stems of the needles 3. The hooks 8 then rise somewhat and the needles 3 are brought back, leasing their loops on the hooks. The bar 7 is then moved sideways to bring the hooks over the needles 9, which are then moved upwards to bring their beards into the vertical parts of the grooves of the hooks and into the loops thereon. The bar 7 is again moved sideways, to bring the hooks out of line with the needles 9, and is swung in the reverse direction to the arrow shown in Fig. 2, thus removing the hooks from the loops, which remain on the needles 9. Loops are transferred from needles 9 to others in the same row by ordinary means.
