Abstract

201,956. Fenton, W. March 9, 1922. Lantern shutters.-In lamps for motor cars, illuminating studios, searchlights, &c., the reflector 1 is provided with an extension 1<a> in which is fixed a ring 4. Pivoted at 3 in the ring 4 are a series of horizontal reflectors 2, the angle of which may be varied at will; vertical or oblique reflectors 5 are also adjustably mounted at 6 and project into the. body of the lamp. The reflectors may be provided with square or chamfered edges, and their surfaces may be mirrored, polished, dull, matte, frosted, roughened, darkened, or coloured. In a modification, Fig. 6, the reflectors 2 are mounted above the centre of the lamp, and the reflectors 5 are mounted as shown in Fig. 7, the reflectors 5<a> deflecting the rays as indicated by the lines Y, and the reflectors 5<b> as indicated by the lines Y'.
