Abstract

200,633. Martin, J. C. May 6, 1922. Plug cocks; materials, special; leakage, stopping.-A plug cock of the kind described in Specification 177,934 having passages for the supply of lubricant is provided with a check valve to prevent back flow of lubricant. The conical plug 13 is provided with lubricating grooves 18 diametrically opposite, the upper ends of which communicate with a passage 20 in the stem of the plug, having a check valve 21 at its inlet. The lubricant is thus retained in the plug on removal of the grease gun. The upper face of the casing 10 is covered by a flat plate 2,5 which is bolted against a diaphragm 23. A recess is provided in the cover-plate to receive a metal spring ring 32 which presses the diaphragm against a joint ring 24 contained in a recess in the plug. The diaphragm 23 may be formed of rubber, duck, asasbestos, lead or copper. The stem 15 is provided with a recess 33 extending over about 90‹, and a lug projects from the plate 25 into this recess to form a stop for the plug in the open and closed positions. Another plate 35 is carried by the stem 15 and is secured by a nut 36.
