Actuating by liquid pressure; buckets,- single - acting bucket pumps; drip, preventing.-Lubricant aupplied under pressure, as from a gun, to a lubricator 1 through an opening closed by a spring-pressed valve 5, depresses a piston 8 against a spring 10, ejecting the lubricant beneath it until a stem 9 on the piston closes the delivery passage 12, whereby a predetermined amount of lubricant is supplied to the part to be lubricated, On disconnecting the gun, the piston rises, the lubricant above it passing into the space beneath it through a passage 14 in the piston fitted with a spring- pressed valve 13. The valve 13 and passage 14 may be replaced by an inclined passage of small diameter, or the piston may be made solid and of slightly smaller diameter than the lubricator cylinder. The valve 5 has a cylindrical stem 5<a> fitting in the supply opening, so that, on disconnecting the gun, the stem acts as a piston to reduce the internal pressure and prevent leakage.
