Abstract
141,622. Lloyd, W. J. Oct. 22, 1919. Force-feed lubricators. - A lubricating devicefor internal-combustion engines gives an automatic force-feed by the action of the varying exhaust-pipe pressure on a flexible diaphragm contained in an oil chamber, operating a deliveryvalve. Means for opening the valve by hand and for heating the oil are provided. Oil from a tank flows along a pipe d through a non-return valve to a pipe b attached to a chamber a containing a flexible diaphragm h A plate e<1> bearing on the under-surface of the diaphragm is connected by a stem e<2> to a spring-pressed delivery-valve c through which oil is forced in small quantities by movements of the diaphragm. The diaphragm may have a central hole i allowing the exhaust gases to pass into the pipe b to place the oil under direct pressure. A pipe l connects the chamber a to the engine exhaust, and a branch pipe l<1> leads to a jacket n for heating the oil. The valve e, which has an adjustable stop g, leads by a pipe p and a sight-feed p<2> to the crank case or part to be lubricated. A spring-supported push-rod k enables tho diaphragm and valve to be depressed by hand.
