Abstract
Hair is dyed by the oxidation of p-phenylenediamine or p-toluylenediamine by means of a mixture of a persulphate and an alkaline perborate, in proportions such that the solution of the mixture is alkaline. A suitable proportion is 4 parts of sodium perborate to 1 of sodium or ammonium persulphate. The Provisional Specification describes the use of "a mixture of a salt of a per-acid with a reagent such that on dissolving in water, the necessary amount of oxygen is given off."
