Abstract

Hair is dyed by applying 2,5-diaminophenol or 2, 5-diaminoanisol or a salt of either and oxidising, especially with atmospheric oxygen. Shade variations may be effected by altering the pH value of the aqueous dye solution to values of pH 5-9. Other modifying dyes may be included in the dye solution e.g. the directly drawing dyes 4-nitro-2-amino-phenol and 1, 4-diamino-2-nitrobenzene and the oxidation dyes 2, 4-diaminophenol and 1, 3-diaminobenzene. Examples are given.
