Treatment preliminary to training.-Hides and skins are depilated by the use of ammonium sulphide or other ammonium salts of weak acids, together with soluble silicates, for example water glass. The ammonium sulphide may be formed by a mixture of sodium sulphide and ammonium salts, such as ammonium chloride.
