Abstract

Wire measuring and feed apparatus comprises first 22, 23 and second 24 series of pulleys mounted for rotation about common axes to receive wires from supply reels. A wire feed nip 35 comprises a series of driven roller pairs, the rollers of each pair being individually biased together to grip wires extending from the pulleys. A drive 32 is provided to move the pulleys apart in a direction transverse to their rotational axes to draw predetermined lengths of wires from the supply reels and to rotate the nip during movement of the pulleys together to feed the drawn wire lengths to an operating station. The rollers of the wire feed nip are preferably mounted for differential slip relative to each other. <IMAGE>
