Abstract

200,214. Morgan, H. R. April 10, 1922. Photo-mechanical printing-surfaces. - A tablet for the preparation of originals for the photographic production of printing plates, particularly for printing " white-line " woodcuts, comprises a foundation consisting of wax or a mixture of wax with a suitable white material, and a thin black or other dark-coloured coating. The design is cut into the tablet by a burin, scraper, or other tool, gradation in the width of the white line being easily obtained by the use of a tapered tool. Preferably the foundation consists of two parts of Japan was and one part of precipitated chalk, and the dark coating of Indian ink or lampblack. Specifications 1626/72, [Class 100, Printing, Letterpress &c.], 7980/87, and 1613/98, are referred to.
