Abstract

218,754. Clatworthy, J. April 13, 1923. Stencils.-In forming coated sheets of foraminous material, such as Yoshino paper, into stencils for use in duplicating, the stencil sheet is combined with a hard-surfaced backing sheet, which is coated, on the surface in contact with the stencil sheet, with a composition containing a colouring matter adapted to be transferred to the stencil sheet where pressure is applied by means of a style or typwriter. The colouring matter is chosen so as to contrast with the stencil sheet and is preferably white when the stencil sheet is dark and black when it includes a light coloured pigment. The composition may be that used in forming carbon paper, or it may have a petroleum jelly base including lamp-black and, if desired, a small proportion of Prussian blue.
