Abstract
199,837. Ransome & Marles Bearing Co., Ltd., and Higgs, H. J. April 1, 1922. Spindle apparatus.-Ring flyers a mounted in anti-friction bearings are provided with an extension m of reduced diameter, or the inner race d of the bearing is recessed, to form a cavity for the reception of a tubular member k of a U-shaped annulus, which extends to approximately the centre of the bearing and forms an oil well which is covered by the flange h of the flyer. The member k may be integral with the annulus which, as shown, may form the outer ring of the bearing. The balls are retained in a cage g made in one piece and drilled on one side to receive the balls. The ring is driven by a wharl n below the supporting rail, and its upper surface is provided with irregularities to indicate the position of the guide notches. The upper end of the flyer may be plain and turned to a suitable shape to accommodate a loose part in which the guide notch is cut.
