Abstract

198,820. Macbean, L. C. March 18, 1922. Closure members.-The division wall b of a water tap is provided with a seating g on the under side to co-operate with an auxiliary valve l, comprising a flexible disc mounted on a central split-pin m, and adapted to cut off the flow when the main valve is removed. The usual jumper n is provided with a central hole to receive the split pin, and the auxiliary valve is maintained in its proper relative position by a sleeve p. Alternatively, the jumper n may be provided with a stem m, Fig. 3, projecting downwards and frictionally engaging the valve l. The upper side of the flexille disc l may be cup-shaped, so that it is expanded against the seating by the pressure of water on the back.
