Abstract

198,718. Gledhill, W. Dec. 23, 1921. Letting-off warps.-The back bearer A of a loom is mounted on spring-controlled levers a connected to the friction ropes b passing round the ruffles of the warp beam, while the other ends of the chains or ropes are connected by a crossbar to spring-controlled levers D operating in conjunction with the levers a. The back bearer can be adjusted relatively to the centres a<1> of the levers. Hooks a<2> with or without adjustable springs engage the ends of the chains. The levers D pivoted at d and controlled by springs d<3> are connected by links d<1> and springs d<2> to the top levers a. Extra tension on the warps thus pulls the bearer down which in turn diminishes the friction of the chains on the ruffies.
