Abstract

197,732. Moore, S., and Hunter, C. Feb. 16, 1922. Discharging.-Coke or ash is discharged from a gas-generator, such as described in Specification 168,951, through a rotary valve mounted on a spindle E in an extension A of the gas-generator so as to support the body of the fuel. The valve shown consists of end-plates H and a plate F extending diametrically across the valve casing D and carrying backwardly-curved arms G, thus forming pockets for the coke, &c., and discharges into a shoot J having a door K. The valve and its casing may be coned and adjustment provided so as to prevent leakage of gas. Stuffing-boxes D<2> are fitted on the spindle E, and poke-holes C are provided in the extension A. The valve may comprise a number of radial vanes.
