Abstract

201,224. Tulloch, T. G. April 24, 1922. Scrubbers and washers. -Apparatus for removing dust &c. from producer gas consists of a cyclone or tangential separator combined with a rotary hollow or plug valve having a single port, adapted to register alternately with the base of the separator and a discharge outlet, during continuous rotation in accord with the feed of fuel and ash discharge of the producer. The separator may be combined with a coke &c. scrubber, the supply of water to which is in proportion to the discharge therefrom. The separator A has a plug valve E with a part I rotated by means of sprocket wheel and chain from a shaft effecting the other mechanical operations of the producer. Above the separator is provided a scrubber having chambers L<1>, N', containing differently sized pieces of coke &c. sprayed with water from a distributor R.
