Screw pumps; impellers in parallel. - Oppositely-arranged helical members 25 secured upon a shaft 16 rotate within a chamber formed of a central barrel 1 with an inlet branch 10 and elbow sections 2, 3 having outlets 14. The central barrel may have a liner 11 clamped in place by the elbow sections. The periphery of the helical members is fitted with packing strips 27. The shaft passes through glands 15 and is supported in bearings 22, 23 of which the former is a thrustbearing.
