Casings; materials used in construction.-The body of the pump comprising the casing 1 with discharge volute 2, the inlet piece 3 and the rotor 4 is held between two annular flanges 6, 7 the former of which forms the bearing member and is fixed to the foundations. The clamping- bolts 8 pass through hollow vanes in the casing 1. By this construction, very little machining of the parts is necessary, and such materials as clay, silicium iron, and termisilid, which are resistant to acids, may be used. The stuffing- box screws are secured in the bearing-member 6.
