Abstract
195,470. Kermor, L. G. de. Jan. 13, 1922. Generating by electricity.-Steam generators of the type in which electrodes immersed in water are arranged so that as steam is generated the electrodes become more or less uncovered with a consequent automatic control of the current, have the electrodes mounted in a frame which is suspended from the top of the boiler when the top is removable, or is adapted to be run on rails or their equivalents into or out of the boiler when the end or side is removable. In Fig. 1 the electrodes 12 are carried by a frame comprising angle bars 10 and are insulated by porcelain members 14. The bars 10 are bolted to brackets 11 carried by the top 7 of the boiler. The boiler is provided with inlet and outlet pipes 23, 24 connected to radiators of a heating system, and a pipe connection 25 to an expansion tank whose position may be varied to vary the steam pressure. In Fig. 2 the electrodes are mounted on insulators 30 carried by a frame comprising plates 28, 27 separated by rods 29. The frame is fitted with wheels 33 and rods 28 for engaging rails 34 and guides 35 respectively.
