Abstract

Steam, supplying.-In furnaces having livesteam conduits below the grate delivering steam from a plurality of restricted outlets through the fire-bars 10, the piping 4 delivering steam to the conduits 11 is provided with a chamber 7 with a controlled outlet 8, below the level of the conduits, to collect and remove condensed water. The outlet 8 may be maintained partially opened or it may be opened periodically. The conduits 11 rest loosely in the upper ends of arms 12 which are connected to bars 13, 14 as shown in Fig. 4, so that the pipes can be fitted to different sizes of furnace tubes. The rear ends of the conduits 11 may be connected by a pipe 20 from which an upwardly sloping pipe 19 projects behind the bridge 2.
