Thermo-aluminic processes.-Parts k to be alumino-thermally welded, are placed inside a fireclay &c. mould i and are preheated by means of liquid fuel such as benzol, the combustion of which is arranged to take place within the mould itself. The fuel, in a reservoir a is subjected to a gas or liquid pressure of about six atmospheres and is delivered through a U-channel in an externally-heated vaporizing block d. The vaporized fuel is then discharged at high velocity from the nozzle f into a mixing tube g from whence the charge passes into the mould where combustion takes place. The mixing tube is preferably spaced apart from the mould orifice. Specification 200,910 is referred to.
