Abstract

313,588. Soc. Anon. le Carbone. June 16, 1928, [Convention date]. Addition to 310,316. Spray carburettors; surface carburettors.-The parent Specification describes apparatus in which fuel is atomized by a small quantity of air, and the mixture of air and fuel is passed through an unheated block d of porous carbon. The invention consists in arranging the porous carbon block in such a manner that it extends, as at k, beyond its sheath or container c. With such an arrangement, the main air supply to the diffuser j is more easily able to pick up fuel from the porous body, and accelerating and starting are facilitated. The porous carbon may be grooved externally as at m, Fig. 2, which shows the application of such a body to a fuel nozzle l. As a further, modification, the porous body may assume the form of a mushroom at the top of a nozzle.
