Abstract
194,822. British Lighting & Ignition Co., Ltd., Turner, E. O., and Tuppen, E. B. Dec. 23, 1921. Magneto-electric machines.-The magnet rotor of an ignition magneto is provided with pole-shoes of sectional construction. Figs. 1 and 3 show a permanent magnet 1 provided with pole-shoes 3 sub-divided into sections by plates 7, the whole being secured together and to the shaft by rivets 9. The iron sections may be solid or laminated, and the plates 7 may be either of non-magnetic material or of iron or steel provided with holes to prevent flux leakage. Various shapes of magnet may be used, means being provided for mechanically balancing the rotor. Fig. 5 shows a construction in which the main rivets 8<1> occupy but little space in the pole-shoes, and additional light rivets 8<11> are used. The pole-shoes and plates preferably form a cage-like structure, Fig. 4. Specification 184,905 is referred to.
