Abstract

Lighting, systems of.-A vehicle lamp is provided with a frame arranged in front and carrying a number of thin wide parallel plates in an inclined position so that the front edge of each plate and the rear edge of an adjacent plate lie in a horizontal plane. The frame may form part of the lamp, or the lamp itself may be adapted to serve as the frame. The upper sides of the plates are dull black, shaded off to a lighter colour towards the light source. In one arrangement, the vehicle is provided with one such lamp at each side arranged to throw the light downwardly, and a third lamp is placed in the upper part of the vehicle with the plates in an inverse direction, so as to direct the light rays above a horizontal surface. In this way a dark horizontal band is produced in front of the vehicle, above and below which strong illumination is obtained.
