Sliding-jaw wrenches. - In an adjustable wrench of the kind in which a worm is carried by a slide so as to be releasable from the rack on the shank for rapid adjustment of the movable jaw, the worm d is mounted on a stud e carried by a transverse plate f having a rightangled bend i shaped as a press button. For guiding the slide plate in its transverse movement on the movable jaw c, the latter is formed at the back with a recess corresponding to the shape of the press button i, and the stud e has a T-shaped bend g sliding in a similar groove h. The worm d is secured on the stud e by a screw j, and is maintained normally in engagement with the rack on the shank a by the spring k.
